On June 19th, our team at York Region Educational Services (YRES) set up an outreach table at the Ajax Community Centre from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM, and it was such a memorable afternoon.

A huge thank you to Hanna for representing us at the table and making it all happen! 💙

We spent three hours chatting with families, youth, and community members passing through the centre, sharing information about our collaborators at Durham Region Educational Services (DRES) and their upcoming Durham Volunteer Fair. It was so refreshing to see how many people in Ajax genuinely care about giving back and getting involved in their community.

Some people stopped to ask questions, others grabbed a flyer, and a few were already actively looking for volunteer opportunities, which made it feel like we were exactly where we needed to be. Every conversation reminded us why community outreach matters so much.

The excitement and warmth we felt from the community that afternoon has us even more pumped up for August 25th!

The Durham Volunteer Fair is happening on August 25th, 2026 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Community Hall 1A, Audley Recreation Centre in Ajax. It's completely free and open to everyone. Come meet local non-profit organizations, explore volunteer opportunities, and connect with people who want to make a difference in Durham Region!
