Does my child need any prior experience in coding or robotics?

Not at all! Nova Spark is designed to be beginner-friendly. Campers start coding and robotics from the ground up. All they need to bring is curiosity and enthusiasm — our instructors take care of the rest.

Question 2

What should my child bring  each day?

Accepted Answer

Children should bring a water bottle, and an optional snack. Comfortable clothes suitable for an active indoor day are recommended. All technology and materials are provided by the camp — no need to bring a laptop or tablet.

Where is the program taking place?

Both programs are held at 3100 Steeles Ave E, Markham, ON L3R 8T3 (Board Room).

Where is the final event held?

The final events are held at external venues. Team Nova Spark Jr will present at a FIRST LEGO League Explore Festival, and Team Nova Spark Robotics will compete at an official FIRST LEGO League Challenge Qualifying Tournament. Locations will be shared closer to the event date.

Full Season Commitment Required

This is a full-season program — participants must register for all session and attend consistently, as every member plays a role in competition preparation. Please review the full schedule before registering.

Behaviour and Respect Policy

Upon registration, campers are expected to demonstrate safe and positive behaviour throughout their time at camp. This includes following camp rules such as:Showing kindness towards fellow campers and staff.Respecting others' belongings and personal space.Following all safety rules and guidelines for each activity. This includes carefully listening to and following instructions from camp counselors and using equipment properly.Camp staff will address inappropriate behavior with appropriate consequences, which may include a warning, or loss of privileges. If a camper breaks the rules outlined in this form, staff will facilitate a discussion with the camper and parents about the inappropriate behaviour and how to manage it going forward. Please note that in the case of repeated offences that go against the camp rules above, campers may be asked to be picked up early from camp.At YRES, we foster an environment that does not tolerate bullying, discrimination, or harassment as well as prioritizing safety for campers, staff, and volunteers. In the case that the offences continue following discussion with the families and implementation of camper support, campers may have their registration withdrawn in accordance to our refund policy. Furthermore, YRES reserves the right to immediately withdraw a camper’s registration in cases of severe behavioral infractions or safety threats.
