Markham Fun Fairs
Fun fairs are where a lot of families meet YRES for the first time. Our team sets up LEGO art, science and robotics stations, runs a prize wheel, and spends the afternoon building alongside the students who stop by. Parents get to ask about summer camp; older students find out about getting involved with us.

No two fairs are the same. At one school, students designed their own LEGO cars when a robotics kit turned up incomplete. At another, a motor failed before the event and the team rebuilt the robot in time to open, then a community member donated a box of LEGO on the spot. Elsewhere, students worked through coding challenges on LEGO Spike Prime and stayed to see their solutions run.
ā
Across the 2026 season we ran booths in seven York Region municipalities: Vaughan, Markham, Richmond Hill, Newmarket, Whitchurch-Stouffville, East Gwillimbury and Georgina.

Every one of these days takes a team willing to give up a Saturday. Thank you to them, and to the schools who made room for us.
Our 2026 Fun Fairs

Ramer Wood Public School
On June 4, 2026, YRES participated in the Ramer Wood Public School LEGO Fun Fair in Markham. Team members Jean, Nora, Sharany, and Matthew hosted an interactive booth where children explored LEGO activities, participated in hands-on challenges, and learned more about YRES programs. The team worked together to keep the booth engaging, even adapting activities when the robot was not functioning as expected. Families enjoyed the prize wheel and giveaways, while parents had opportunities to learn more about YRES educational programs and Summer Camp. The event created a fun and welcoming environment for children and families while promoting creativity, problem-solving, and hands-on learning.
