🧱 Building Community Brick Brick by Brick: Collaborating with Pass the Bricks! ✨
YRES x Pass the Bricks 2026
August 28, 2026

On August 28, the York Region Educational Services (YRES) team had the pleasure of welcoming Garry from Pass the Bricks to our office. Garry stopped by to pick up boxes of Lego kits that our team of volunteers spent 15 hours sorting and documenting. These kits were inventory-checked by our dedicated volunteers ensuring quality, knowing these pieces will be used to support our community through an upcoming charity auction.
As organizations that support the local community, Pass the Bricks and YRES share a common goal of making educational resources more accessible. Pass the Bricks collects Lego donations, refurbishes them with the help of volunteers, and distributes these educational materials to the community. Considering that there is always a continuous supply of Lego waiting to be organized, we are looking forward to hosting more Lego sorting volunteer collaboration sessions in the near future! These sessions offer a wonderful way for youth to earn volunteer hours, connect with peers, and make a difference in the community.
Our collaboration with Pass the Bricks continues to open up new possibilities for new learners. Garry previously supported our events by providing a box of miscellaneous Lego during our fun fair session. Additionally, he is keeping an eye out for specialized Lego Technic pieces to donate directly to our YRES Robotics Team. These contributions help equip the next generation and future students with the materials they need to explore STEM, design, and problem-solving.
A huge thank you to Garry and the Pass the Bricks team for providing amazing Lego materials and to every volunteer who dedicated their time and care to this project. We are extremely grateful for what we have accomplished together. Furthermore, we are looking forward to future initiatives that will grow and blossom from this new founded partnership.
